Hello Fellow Brothers and Sisters, I am Hector Fernandez (SDSU) current locksmith and candidate for Business Manager. Many have seen my emails and I plan to lay out my plan for SETC on here. There are numerous areas that I have heard need change but I will stick with a reasonable expectation for the first 6 months.
1- Address the By-Laws to ensure the proper procedures are in place to deal with term limits, discipline scenarios, voting and campaigning, proper recording and implementation of meeting minutes and motions. Plus review other concerns with the current vagueness of the By-Laws.
2- Define our purpose, focus, and vision for SETC. Which should lay the ground for a defined path into the future growth of our members and Union.
3- Propose a detailed and structured financial plan for the Union. Will include how travel is defined and expensed, what expenses are authorized and limits on allowances. Policies and procedures defined to ensure wasteful spending will never be an issue again.
4- Yearly training for stewards and members that want to further their interest in supporting Union efforts.
5- Open and transparent communication in numerous forms. The days of excuses are gone with Internet, email, social media, and other forms of communication Union business will be a click away.
6- All board positions will be reassessed to include a job description. Every member will be aware of each position and know where the responsibilities lay for all Union business.
I am sure there is points I am missing right now and it may seem like a lot of work, but I am ready to take on the job. We need a fresh breathe of air in this Union and I feel very confident I can provide the leadership needed to accomplish that.
As always I am open for text, email, and phone calls. Hfernand@mail.sdsu.edu or 619-971-2355
