Hello Brothers and Sisters,
We had our quarterly SETC general membership meeting on Saturday January 30, 2016. I unfortunately had last minute family matters to attend which did not allow to me attend this meeting. I was able to secure a copy of the 4th quarter financials which I have attached for your review. One topic that was addressed was a motion from a CSU San Marcos member to remove Chris Sprofera VP. It was second and voted by the members in attendance (12 yes, 5 no, 6 abstentions). This was pushed due to Mr. Sprofera's involvement of with Teamsters. That pushed aside (since other board members were also involved in Teamsters talks) this board continues to silence and blackball anyone that decides to voice an opinion different than theirs. This was done by removing UCLA from SETC, ignoring my petition to reelect stewards on SDSU (petition signed by close to 40% of members), motioning to remove Mr. Sprofera, and ignoring the 30% of membership who want change. These actions are encouraged by the vague by-laws which SETC operates within, and the board continues to ignore amending the by-laws which has been motioned and approved on numerous occasions. Another topic that was passed which will fly by everyone is Ms. Chang is retiring in March 2016. Mr. Drew Scott will now replace Ms. Chang as CFO/Treasurer of SETC. If many recall Mr. Scott was placed on the board without a vote, and was justified by the board members as following past practice to fill empty spots in this manner. This board will now use this same reasoning to move him into another position and probably appoint another board member which is in line with their dictatorship ways.
I WILL ONCE AGAIN MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR TO ALL MEMBERS AND THE BOARD (WHICH I KNOW HAS READ ABOUT THIS FORUM) I WANT TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FILL THIS BOARD SPOT. I know this will fall on deaf ears since I do not fit the mold of what they are looking for. I will actually listen to the members and push for accountability, transparency, and open communication. Which is what this forum was created to address.
I urge anyone to tell me what this board has done for the members. There are many members that have unanswered questions, motions, and failures to communicate which is overlooked by numerous members. All this board has done for 6 plus months is tell everyone how bad Teamsters is for this Union. Again remove Teamsters from all these talks, and maybe more members will see the same problems that 30% of the membership sees.
Many reading this will have their predetermined opinion of me without even reaching out to talk with me. I am ok with that decision, as it tells me everything I need to know about your character. Those who reach out and talk to me can find out for themselves what my intentions are and make their own opinion (not one based on others who also have not talked with me). My number again is 619-971-2355 I will even challenge the board members to call (this isn't the first time I have made that offer). As I do in every email I encourage each member to pass this information on to other members and allow each member to form their own opinions. Do not be like our board and assume you know what the membership wants.
